Hi, Roz. Here's a good recent example: https://medium.com/corporateunderbelly/why-you-cant-afford-your-doctor-dentist-veterinarian-or-even-dinner-at-olive-garden-dbddd8e24c5d
On Substack, this piece got 120 new subscriptions, 3K views and 86 shares (so far).
In my opinion, it's interesting, educational, well-cited and fresh. It's personalized and helps people understand a topic that is generally not thought about. I don't know why the curators passed it by, but I was glad to see it was appreciated on Substack. Most of my content on the two platforms is different, but if a Medium piece seems like it's also a good fit on Substack, I will share it there so it can get the attention I think it deserves.
To Boost or not to Boost is one person's opinion at a certain moment in time. If a writer believes their story deserves more attention than it gets on one platform, there are other ways to get it out there, and Substack is just one possibility.
I think my 30-plus years of writing, editing, running newspapers, writing books and mentoring writers has given me good instincts for quality, but it has not helped me crack the Boost code. I'm not giving up.
