This is only kind of about making violet syrup

Behold my flask of violet syrup. No, I didn’t use lilacs, although that’s another project! The syrup photographed better against the lilacs than the actual violets. I tried both. (Photo by Michelle Teheux)

I am surrounded by household projects I can’t seem to complete, I have a new book I need to promote and I have a big freelance deadline approaching, but that did not stop me from spending hours making violet syrup that I had absolutely no use for.
