For those of us who, like me, live in very white areas (I live in a small town that isn't very diverse), sometimes the best we can do is buy books that have children of all races interacting together -- and to explicitly SAY what needs to be said. Kids will hear and see all kinds of shit in the world. They need to hear the right message at home. Start talking about it when they're still small. If you wait until they're "old enough," it's too late.
