If your solution to sleep deprivation is waking up at the last possible moment that will still allow you to get to work on time, you can learn from the genius but very wrong hack my son developed in grade school.
I had no idea anything weird was going on until I noticed I was running out of hair gel faster than usual.
In those days, I used a pretty good dollop of the stuff every morning, but that didn’t explain how I was going through it so fast.
My son has always struggled with mornings
He inherited that from me. But instead of going to bed earlier, he developed a secret hair gel hack that allowed him to sleep as late as possible.
Each night, he’d shower, get dressed for school — including his shoes! — and use an extreme amount of gel to arrange his hair into place. Then he’d ever-so-carefully get into bed and lie down without messing up his hair. He’d pull the blankets up to his chin so when I came in to say goodnight I wouldn’t discover he was fully dressed under the covers.
In the morning, his hair wasn’t mussed because he’d essentially shellacked it into place. You know how some TV news women report live from…
